Feeling Lost but Choosing Myself Anyway

For a long time, I felt genuinely lost about what it meant to take care of myself. Everywhere I turned, there were opinions about what a “healthy life” should look like: strict exercise routines, flawless diets, productivity hacks, and endless must do lists. Instead of feeling motivated, I felt overwhelmed. I didn’t know where to begin, and I constantly wondered whether I was doing anything “right.”

Some days, I felt stuck and frustrated, unsure whether I was making progress or simply spinning in place. Adulthood can feel exhausting in that way, like you’re always trying to figure things out and still somehow falling short. But eventually, I learned something important: taking care of yourself doesn’t need to be perfect or complicated. Sometimes, it simply means choosing yourself, even when you don’t have all the answers.

Choosing yourself begins with asking small but meaningful questions: Does this feel right? Does this bring me peace? Or does it drain me mentally? Listening to those answers matters far more than following every rule or trend. It’s about making choices that protect your energy, support your well-being, and remind you that you matter. For me, that started with tiny, realistic habits, the kind that felt manageable even when everything else felt uncertain.

One of the first shifts I made was giving myself permission to rest. Instead of pushing through exhaustion because I felt like I “should,” I started honoring my need to slow down. Rest became an act of self respect rather than something to feel guilty about. When I allowed myself to recharge, I noticed I was more patient, more focused, and better equipped to handle stress.

I also changed the way I moved my body. Instead of forcing intense workouts, I chose movement that felt good short walks to clear my mind, stretching after long days, or dancing around my room to off‑tone songs simply because it made me smile. Those small moments reminded me that joy doesn’t need permission or structure.

Surprisingly, one habit that brought me peace was simply “drinking water and minding my business.” It sounds funny, but it’s true. Staying hydrated, focusing on my own growth, and letting go of unnecessary noise created a calm that not everyone understands, and that’s perfectly fine.

Setting boundaries was another powerful shift. Saying no to things that drained me or didn’t align with where I was emotionally helped protect my mental space. It wasn’t easy, but I learned that boundaries aren’t selfish; they’re a form of choosing yourself.

I also carved out small moments of calm throughout my days, sitting quietly with tea, breathing deeply, writing down my thoughts, or stepping outside for fresh air. Life can feel overwhelming, but these pauses helped reset my mind.

This journey hasn’t been perfect. I’ve doubted myself, slipped into old habits, and felt lost again. And honestly, adulthood sometimes feels like a scam. But what matters is continuing to breathe, trying, being gentle with yourself, and remembering that life moves in phases, not competitions.

Take small walks. Clear your head. Eat well when you can. Enjoy your life because you only live once. Love deeply, love often, and most importantly, love yourself. You are worth every effort you make.

  2. Nothing can ever feel so good other man doing those things that gives us peace of mind.

Whatever it be that we find joy and contentment doing is actually worth doing and never drains us.

But it's unfortunate that our contemporary world today subjects us to do things that we don't admire. What to do! One just have to survive, keep body and soul going as that's what adulthood entsils.

However, being that we don't always find those things we desire to do thus resulting to doing the available. We must try to love them, embrace them and make them an rabit. There's a saying that life doesn't always give you what you want, so we must make the available things desirable if we must thrive without depression.

Finally, while finding joy in our current task, we must feed the body, make ourselves happy, abstain from depressing thoughts, hang around with flawless energetic humans, build motivation with our environment and finally, Live at peace with all men.

Life is not fair to anyone, but we must be fair to ourselves.

  11. A deep sense of awakening and coming to self consciousness, the very moment a being understands that reality is an illusion and repeated patterns, the fog clears, that’s to say , man is one with source. Isolating is transmuting pain to oneness.
